ST. JOHN’S, NL– Within the course of a few months, the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE) has been certified by the Labour Relations Board as the bargaining agent for workers with Collin’s Ambulance Service Ltd and has successfully negotiated an agreement with the employer which was accepted unanimously by the members there.

There are currently 12 employees working at Collin’s which services the Burin Peninsula and is a contracted service provider with Eastern Health.

“We are happy to welcome workers at Collin’s Ambulance to our NAPE family,” said NAPE President Jerry Earle. “Once workers voted to join our union, our team immediately went to work to negotiate a very good first collective agreement for this group.”

“Our union continues to grow in the private sector. Workers see our union as a champion for their rights, for better pay and benefits, for improved health and safety standards, and for better overall working conditions, said Earle. “We expect this trend to continue into the months ahead.”
