Dear NAPE Healthcare Member,

Your union has been working tirelessly to protect workers throughout this pandemic. We have been pushing employers and government hard for better protocols and procedures, active in the media, working behind the scenes, and engaged with local suppliers and groups to source much-needed PPE.

Part of that process was working with the employers, government, and the other healthcare unions to develop a joint statement on guiding principles on PPE.

We are pleased to report a joint statement on PPE has been signed by RNU, NAPE, NLMA, CUPE, AAHP, PARNL, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and Regional Health Authorities. It identifies PPE standards for health care workers.

The Joint Statement can be found here : CLICK HERE

A Visual Guide for Interactions can be found here (the guide is based on the unions’ interpretation): CLICK HERE

While this Joint Statement is a positive step – we are not done yet. We know there is more work to be done to ensure you have the equipment needed to do your jobs safely.

Health and safety is our number one priority each and every day.

Take care and be safe.

Please contact your respective NAPE Servicing Rep if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

In solidarity,
