The last week of October (23 to 29) is Respiratory Therapy Week.
This is a week to celebrate and thank Respiratory Therapists for the incredible work they do in our healthcare system.
Respiratory Therapists (RT) provide care to people at all stages of their lives.
RTs perform a wide range of tasks in our healthcare facilities. They assesses, performs medical, and provides a range of treatments for cardio respiratory disease. They provide airway and breathing support in ICUs, emergency and operating rooms. They are responsible for performing specialized medical and diagnostic tests and procedures to evaluate patients’ respiratory status, and operate equipment and computerized programs to obtain patient’s lung flows, volumes and diffusion to obtain diagnosis of respiratory abnormalities.
Their work also involves assessment, treatment, evaluation of care, and education for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders.
